Riversdale Pinot Meunier 2025

Share

A potent little number filled with black raspberry, rhubarb stem and licorice root. More blackberries and some inky dark fruit, outside what is more usually a variety dominated by red fruits. There is climbing ivy and furry sage leaf intertwined with clove, carob and poppy seed. The palate is considerably ripe which gives a middle palate weight, again more complex and fairly rustic but in quite a charming way.  Turned potting soil, fungi and a whiff of dried roses. This is a very good drink and takes the sparkling grape into the considerable realms of table wine. This is for those that enjoy sappy, fruit forward wines with an edge of spice and exotics. I can foresee this doing well with Cabernet Franc drinkers all the way to Montepulciano fans. A slight chill could also offer some serving grace, maybe with focaccia fresh from the oven and grilled marinated vegetables.
