Fruit is from the Sugarloaf Creek Vineyard and matured in French barriques of which 65% was new oak for 48 months. As expected this is a wine which speaks of its significant oak aging and some ripe and robust crimson fruit. Raspberry coulis, spiced rhubarb and vanilla spice. Cinnamon and opulent baking spice provides the impression of a candy -like coating across the nose. The palate though is taut and focused with red plum, some sandy and angular tannins and acidity to make for a juicy drink. You will continue to taste the jammy red fruit alongside some nut brittle and quince to finish. Drink now or cellar for up to 8 years further. A wine to round out a meal or continue into cigar and sweets.
