In the North East hills of Romangia Sardinia comes this fragrant Cannonau aka Grenache. Here it expresses the shallow soils with aromatic red fruits. Blood plum, Morello cherries and pomegranate. A hint of blackberry and vanilla pod with a backdrop of nutmeg, ground ginger and dried paperbark. Acidity is crunchy and there is a nice warmth to the Grenache frame. Tannins are fine grained and dusty and there is a lasting note of autumn leaves and brown mushrooms. This is clearly a wine that speaks of place and a wonderful example of how distinctly the grape showcases its terroir. Drinking well now and will age for another 2-3 years. Pair with wild mushroom risotto and shaved white truffle.
