Scarborough Wine Co. Keepers of the Flame Chardonnay 2022

Share

A little more constrained on the nose at first, this is finely cut with quartz-like acidity, lemon zest, sourdough, cooler tones of wet stone and plenty of finely layered texture which builds beautifully on the palate. It’s long and quick-witted, a wine that has plenty more to say than an initial conversation, I imagine. There’s judicious use of oak, toasted, yet it cradles the fruit tenderly. It’s a svelte wine, a long and conical shape unlike some of its peers, which are a bit more cuddly and plush. Give this time to unfurl, and let the persistent finish continue to talk.
