Schubert Estate The Gander Reserve Shiraz 2021

Share

The Gander is a selection of the best barrels from the “greatest” Barossa vintages, according to the maker. It’s quite a beguiling thought turned real when you come to the glass, a showcase of warm Australian Shiraz from an acknowledged outstanding vintage. Sweet and savoury notes compete for attention, a fine tuning of style with its mix of briar, earth and smoked charcuterie features amid a rich layering of ripe sweet fruits loaded in spice, dusty cocoa and cedary, toasty oak. A polished wine, especially considering its overall obvious generosity, it benefits from the presence of savoury, fine tannins. Can easily reward your patience.
