I love the adaptable nature of Chardonnay, able to tolerate the cold while also thriving in warm regions. The Seppelt Drumborg is a stonkingly good cool-climate Chardonnay, with some reduction on opening which melts away to reveal green and stone fruit and lots of citrus, with some further complexity of almond and saline. The palate is glorious, with a mellifluous mouthfeel and great acid giving it a vibrance that makes every sip enjoyable. It punches well above its weight and it’ll continue to evolve in the bottle for at least the next 5–8 years, and can be enjoyed by itself or with a wide range of foods.
