Small Victories Rosé 2021

I won’t lie. I have a serious crush on the Rosé category. Why? There is no better wine that can be both a great drink by itself, but I swear it is also the most versatile wine to match with food. This example ticks a lot of boxes. From the Ashmead vineyard in the Barossa we are talking a solid blend of Grenache and Mataro with some decent vine age. The dark red fruit profile plays the long game here – dark red cherry, with some lashings of brighter rhubarb and cranberry, with a dash of aniseed. There is bucket loads of texture that you don’t always see, which is backed up by vibrancy of fruit and soft acidity. Think outside the box with pairings here. I’ve definitely landed in dessert territory, sweet tooth through and through – salted dark chocolate tart with raspberries please!
