St Hallett Blackwell Shiraz 2023

Blackberry pie, sweet spice, cacao and rolled oats — a big bear of a wine, but one that gives great firm-yet-tender hugs. The weight and density of fruit leaves you overindulged but strangely content. Alcohol is large, both warming and giving sweetness. Scraped vanilla bean, organic cacao powder, blueberry compote. Reads like dessert, and to be fair, there’s that final hit of satisfaction too. Abundant on the palate, great drinkability in youth and sandy tannins for oomph. Best as your last glass of the night — then off to dream of Barossa.
