Opaque ruby colour. Pan juice umami, blackberry, black cherry, black tea, rosemary, brown and black spice, a touch of graphite. Lovely enticing complexity thanks to the umami and spice notes. It’s brooding, though with a velvety foil. The palate is full bodied and round, with sweet pops of ripe blackberry gliding through the mouth along with mulberry, nutmeg, earth, black cherry liqueur, and liquorice. A good vein of chalky tannins offset the thickness and frame it all to a long close with the help of blackberry-drenched acidity. This is bold, sweet fruited, round, and sapid but it works thanks to its balance, complexity and structure. A food wine for sure.
