St John’s Road The Prophet Barossa Shiraz 2017

Share

I love the labels for this range from St John’s Road showing the altitude of their vineyards in the Barossa. This wine comes from the Ebenezer sub-district of the Northern Barossa which is well known for its hearty and dense fist full of dark fruit flavour.

This wine is deeply coloured and shows its Ebenezer home on its sleeve with blackberry, cocoa and tarry fruits supported by some cedar oak complexity. The wine is then bold and ripe on the palate in a fleshy style but retains that savoury tarry edge adding plenty of interest. Tannins are supple and they help to support what is quite a long finish. Match it up with a T-bone steak and chips for optimal drinking.
