Warramunda Estate Yarra Valley Cabernets 2019

Share

Another youthful and tightly focused wine with longevity on its mind. It’s got miles to go.

The cabernet blend, always a strength in the Yarra Valley, is changing albeit slightly to embrace a touch of savouriness. It’s a welcome addition to the regional style and sits well here with the kind of plush fruit that the area does so well.

So much lovely spice here to enjoy – clove, cinnamon, nutmeg – with wild berries, cranberry and a smidge of tomato leafiness. The touch of toasted oak is a background throughout, always there but not necessarily a noted presence. This is oak handled with thought. It walks a tight line courtesy of firm tannins with all the building blocks here for a fine wine.
