Whicher Ridge Elevage Sauvignon Blanc 2020

There are simply not enough oaked sauvignon blancs in Australia as oak can add so much more to the usual grassy, guava fruit bomb styles. And this wine from Geographe is a good example with its complex lemon rind and passionfruit aromas lifted by subtle toasty oak. Time on lees has also given an attractive crisp yet creamy texture with nougat and citrus fruits that are bright and youthful on what is an elegant palate. There is plenty to like here for a wine that has the power and weight to match up to a Snapper pie.
