From younger vines within the Whisson Lake vineyard, planted in 1995. 15% whole bunch, 17% new oak. Quality kirsch leaps from the glass before bright red cherry and cherry pit. Some air allows a descension into more savoury and autumnal characters, red rose, damp autumn leaves, onion skin. There’s some pop to the palate, which sits high through the mouth. Rose, cherry, red plum skin, and raspberry are constricted into linearity by fine but assertive silty tannins and fresh acid to a clean, red-fruited close. Bright, vibrant, elegant and finessed.
