Wolf Blass Grey Label Piccadilly Valley Chardonnay 2022

Share

This vintage of the WB Grey Label Chardonnay was harvested from two blocks in the cool Piccadilly Valley in the Adelaide Hills. It is a cracker, but what it really is, is amazing value. I know that some have a built-in repulsion to big company Chardy, but try this and then take a good look at yourself. If it was under the label of some of our favourite cult producers, it would be twice the price, and people would be raving. The wine was fermented in a mix of new (40%) and older (60%) French barriques for eight months with regular lees stirring. Pale lemon hue, this is a lean and muscular style with gentle oak integration, proceeding apace. The nose gives us an array of lemon blossoms, florals, citrus, nuts and white peaches. Good intensity on the palate, for the full length. There is richness, loads of flavour and excellent length here. An impressive Chardy with finesse and integrity to drink over the next five to six years.
