Wynns V&A Lane Cabernet Shiraz 2024

Share

An extraordinary wine with a wonderful link to the past generation of Wynns clarets, which were built around this classic Australian blend. Here it’s a 69% Cabernet Sauvignon to 31% Shiraz mix, remarkably harvested on the same day, March 15, from several points along V&A Lane, mid Coonawarra, then co-fermented. After 12 months maturation in larger oak vessels, 18% new, the wine is still all about vitality and fresh crimson fruit expression, light on its feet at 12.6%abv, juicy, reminiscent of tart/sweet pomegranate without the thick tannins; you might glimpse some fennel in there as well, definitely with a black pepper dusting. If you have shied away from this blend thinking it might be a bit on the heavy side, this will turn your head. Bright, sensual, smart, lively companionship – wine of the highest social connectivity.
