Here we have the ‘village’ level wine – a delightful Pinot Noir of charm, complexity, and substance. And excellent value to boot. It opens with floral prettiness and red-fruited allure: raspberry leaf, lilac, and ground nutmeg lead the way, followed by Bing cherry, autumn leaves, fig leaf, and flickers of liquorice root and tea. An appealing and expressive aromatic profile. The palate follows in kind with notes of dried violets, raspberry compote, decaying leaves, earth, and nutmeg, all carried on a fine mineral thread that lifts the wine and gives it aerial finesse. Supple and flowing, it glides through the mouth with autumnal grace before fine, chalky tannins gently frame the finish, delivering even length and satisfying structure. Delicious – eminently drinkable, with enough grip to stand confidently at the table.
