100% Grenache Noir from the Hickinbotham Clarendon Vineyard, gnarled bush vines planted in 1962. Matured in amphora for 7 months. A distinctive wine that stands out from the crowd, showing its dark brooding fruit spectrum and granitic black soil depths. Rich plum, dark olive and briar of inter herbs. It is the translation of place that makes Grenache so compelling and this is a fine example of its old historical bush vines and clay soils. Fine tannins that stack on top of each other to ensure a long life ahead. A wonderful wine for charred sticky meats.
Shanteh cut her teeth at Sydney’s Award-Winning Quay restaurant where she worked for over a decade and was Head Sommelier from 2018 till 2022. She has been nominated for the Good Food Guide Sommelier of the Year award on three occasions and claims that her experience as a Len Evans scholar as one of the highlights of her career. Shanteh hosts her own weekly podcast ‘Over A Glass’ with the Deep in the Weeds Network and spends her time writing for various publications and judging at numerous wine shows across the country.
