Yelland & Papps Greenock Single Vineyard Shiraz 2021

A unique style of wine here, having seen 23 months in oak. But before you imagine a wine piled high with coconut and vanilla, have no fear as we are talking large, older oak but it definitely has an effect to flesh out the wine. It is open knit with supple aromas of blackberry and blueberry with a stony edge, and showing the reserved generosity of the vintage. That approachability continues with integrated tannins in what is a mid-weight although currently slightly understated package. You get the feeling it will will build more texture and be better with a couple of years under its belt.
