Fruit is sourced from predominantly the Yering vineyard and Copperhead in Coldstream, with a first inclusion of the 2017 planted Spring Lane vineyard. Fermented on full solids in French oak puncheons of which 16% were new and matured on gross lees for 5 months in tank, no malolactic fermentation. This is singing this vintage with the added zippy saline line that really compliments the white peach and young mango fleshed fruit. There is snuggly warmth and power, especially considering there is zero malo, the wine naturally provides an almond cream and rounded curve to its shape. A wine with driving energy and captivating zippy acidity. I think this is a celebration of Yarra Valley Chardonnay in a year when you had to be on the front foot, here the wine is an excellent balance of judicious oak and pristine fruit quality. A real standout. Drink now with hand cut linguine and crab meat or cellar for another 6-8 years.
