Aces & Arrows Riverland Vermentino 2022

Share

I’ve said it before, but it’s worth repeating, Vermentino is proving to be a champion grape for Australia. This one comes from the Riverland, a warm, dry climate, and yet this vibrant white sings with the juicy freshness of lime zest and green pears. It’s not all fruit though… your interest is held with crushed cashew nuts, slightly briny seashells and the savoury whisp of white mould cheese. In the mouth, it is a sunny afternoon of a wine; with freshly squeezed lemon, orchard fruits and a hint of anise akin to Asian basil. The acidity is beautifully integrated and speaks of tangy lime, alongside a pithy, slightly chewy texture that doesn’t need food but delights in pairings. Try with a poached chicken and rice noodle salad, abundant with crisp vegetables and a spicy, tangy dressing.
