Allan Scott Base Central Otago Pinot Noir 2018

Share

Central – the home to New Zealand’s biggest, boldest and most muscular Pinot Noirs. It’s the Barossa Valley of New Zealand Pinot country thanks to its dry, harsh climate, with the Scott Base vineyard right in the heart of Central near the little town of Cromwell.

This is a typically dense Central Otago Pinot Noir style – earthy mushroom and wild thyme aromas sit over lush rhubarb and dark cherry fruits. It’s powerful and rich with generous fruit well matched by some quality oak. Lots of complexity too but just needs a couple of years to settle into the groove, although still a great drink now.
