Angullong Fossil Hill Sangiovese 2018

Share

Angullong has some of the older Sangiovese vineyards in New South Wales, which are now almost twenty and it shows in this wine which is a broody, youthful style that needs a little time to show its best.

The fruit is almost explosive with cherry pip, baked clay and earthy aromas plus some spicy oak. And like all good Sangiovese it is even better on the palate showing a bright, juicy and slightly angular palate underpinned by layers of ripe and generous dark cherry fruits. There are attractive tannins too but it is the balance of all the pieces that stands out, as does its concentration and fruit length. The wine is young now, and maybe not quite ready to drink, but has all the elements to age well and improve in the bottle.
