Angus The Bull Cabernet Sauvignon 2022

Hamish MacGowan may be many things. Winemaker. Marketer. Globetrotter. However, vegetarian is not one of them. In a world pandering to vegan demands, it is a welcomed change to find a wine targeting red meat-eaters. And for the fathers within the category, of which I predict there are a few, an indulgence of dad jokes. Angus The Bull has a tag line to applaud… cut the bull. Interpret it as you will – the literal sliced sirloin or metaphoric ceasing of nonsense. There is a market for both!

A cavernous crimson hue met with appealing savouriness – sarsparella, nigella seeds, tilled soil complimented by varietal black fruits and a breath of dark chocolate. Flavours are plush and upfront, confected blackcurrant pastille, Dutch licorice black cats, cocoa powder, an undernote of chargrilled capsicum and varnish. A smooth tannin profile, open knit with a grainy, toasted oak finish that attests to the suggested fat in a prime piece of juicy steak. Despite being on the shorter side, this is an eBULLient Cabernet.

If sentenced to death, her last meal would be freshly baked bread and salted butter paired with a glass of the best wine in the world - chardonnay of course.
