My love for Greek culture, food, wine and its people runs deep, and I have been fortunate to taste some very memorable retsinas in my life. Some woefully bad and quite a few very interesting and memorable bottles, all have been in good company and so the ancient drink holds a special place in my heart, that truly represents a wine of place and people. The Aristotelis ke Antholua Retsiniis a cut above the rest, with respectful handling of 60 year old bush vines of Zibibbo grown in Riverland. A skin contact wine for 3-4 weeks is fermented pine resin and basket pressed into clay amphora. Its sunshine yellow tinged in the glass and full of chamomile, preserved lime zest, Marigold flowers and first press olive oil. A subtle ribbon of pine fragrance lingers throughout coming into focus and drifting away in favor of peach cheeks and mandarin oil. Its fruit first and style coming in quick succession. Some baked pink salt flakes, with lingering citrus crunch. A very fine wine and a triumph example of a style so vastly overlooked. I hope you buy this and enjoy it with those that treat you like family and welcome you with open arms. Drink this wine avgolemono and smile at the world.
