Balgownie Estate Bendigo Cabernet 2012

The Balgownie Cabernet vineyard is the original planting from 1970, so it locks in so much history into every bottle. It’s now showing a rich and deep garnet colour with an intense nose that is wholly tertiary: dried red and black fruits, dark chocolate, cigar box and tomato leaf. These characters are also seen on the palate, which is medium bodied but concentrated. The Cabernet has fully matured now, yet it will still live on for around another five years or more as there’s still much life left in it.
