Barale Barolo Castellero 2018

Castellero (within the Barolo commune) is a high-density vineyard planted to ancient Nebbiolo clones (Michet, Rosè and Lampia) in 1978. Barale owns about 2/3 of the vineyard along the likes of Brezza and Giacomo Fenocchio. Wines often share similarities with those of the neighbouring Castiglione Falletto commune. Generously unfolding crushed cranberry, ripe cherry skin and resinous alpine scents coupled with crushed earth and freshly dug-up root vegetables. The palate is rich and broad, and perhaps the most serious personality in Barale’s line-up. Firmly structured, savoury cherry pith tannins poise ripe red fruits and mouth-watering acidity. The purity of the fruit and overall energy here is captivating. They effortlessly persist for minutes. One to drink or hold for decades!
