Quality maraschino cherry, gentle spice, a burst of fresh red rose. Incredibly high-toned and perfumed purity straight off. There’s a deeper side aching to come out and I can see this is going places. It reminds me of a quality Alto Piemonte Nebbiolo. Red plum pops out, some mint and cranberry, liquorice root and a hint of roasted tomato umami. The palate is bright and buoyant with lovely red fruited pop and bounce mirroring the nose and driven by bright red cherry and red florals that flesh out with air. It’s lithe but intense. Just when you’re enamoured by this wine’s delicacy and finesse, there’s an assertion of silty tannins commanding attention. It finishes fine with piquant acid the vehicle for a bright red fruited finish. A brilliant and complex, alpine styled Nebbiolo.
