55% Syrah from Clarendon and 45% Grenache from Blewitt Springs. The deep bass tones of Clarendon make themselves known here in black cherries, plum and tonka bean. Pepper studded salami and licorice root. There are some sweet red fruits too, apple skin and pomegranate seeds. Once again tannins are pillowy and lush with a direct but not too angular push of acidity. This is elegant and yet savoury with almost a spiral effect of detail that keeps giving the longer you spend with it, a very good example of why together these two varieties complement and make something altogether unique in its palate weight and shape. Drinking very well now and will continue to do so for another 5-6 years lying down in the cool of your cellar. Share amongst friends that have a meat smoker and suggest brisket for dinner?
