100% Cabernet Sauvignon from the Colbinabbin Vineyard, Heathcote. Deep in colour, the bouquet opens with cedar, blackcurrant, black cherry, black olive tapenade, plum, earth, bay leaf and graphite, with the faintest whisper of mint. Time in the glass coaxes out coffee and vanilla bean. On the palate, a generous pulse of dark fruit — blackberry, black cherry and plum — is anchored by cedar, black tea and graphite lending savoury definition around the edges. Firm, well-resolved tannins carry the wine through a finish of commendable length. A strong release that carries a sense of elegance the previous vintage didn’t quite reach.
