d’Arenberg ‘The Twenty Eight Road’ Mourvedre 2018

Share

There are not many straight Mourvedres around, especially from McLaren Vale, and this version is distinctly in old school territory. The fruit is ripe and hearty – blackberry, liquorice and tar with that meaty, animal edge of Mourvedre in play, but only in the background. This is more McLaren Vale than Mourvedre. The palate is then supple and fleshy with dark fruit and roasted meat flavours plus some dusty old oak and supple tannins. It’s rustic for sure and best consumed sooner rather than later so enjoy with flame grilled beef over the next year or two.
