Vignerons Schmölzer & Brown Thorley Riesling 2021

Fresh lime juice, makrut lime leaf, and a glimmer of lemon rind are wrapped around a shot of slatey mineral drive that builds with air. This is followed by a salty savoury edge and some elderflower prettiness. Understated and awash with the class and poise I’ve come to expect from this producer. Pops of lemon sherbet come out with air and temperature, further suggesting this will reward with time to unfurl. The palate is light bodied, chiselled, pure and high-toned, with citrus zing at the fore and that lovely sea spray essence again. A compact palate pulls the incredibly tensile lemon and lime notes long as the bright acidity washes the zestiness through the back palate, fanning it out. Endless length. A wine of purity, length and precision that will reward time in cellar. Only 22 dozen available.
