Black & Ginger Great Western Shiraz 2024

‘Like walking through an alpine forest’ is how I summed up this Shiraz. It shows a wonderful mix of characters, from the fruitiness of plum and red cherry, the savouriness of green pepper and rhubarb, and herbaceous, woody tones to round it out. The palate is bright and alive with medium acid, but it needs a lot of air before it really shows its best, after which those conifer/cedar notes come out to play. It’s still at the beginning of its journey, which I reckon will see it improve over the next 5-7 years or so.
