Boulder Fields Macedon Ranges Field Blend 2023

Share

I first tried a little sample of this wine with winemaker Callan Randall while at the Box Grove Vineyard cellar door in 2023, and I was instantly impressed, so it was great to receive a bottle after it had settled down a bit. The unusual blend of Gewürztraminer and Chardonnay lends it a captivating array of aromas and flavours: lemon, melon, straw, apricot and macadamia, plus some of the terpene linalool from a bit of skin contact, which gives it a spicy fruit character. The mouthfeel is exquisite, with silkiness, zippiness and a full, slippery sensation. As it’s still very much a baby, I think its best years are yet to come, but it’s drinking so well right now.
