The Night Owls reference is apparently to a local jazz band. Fortunately, I like the wine a lot more than I like jazz (wasn’t the Night Owl also the café in ‘LA Confidential’ where there was a massacre?). Opaque colour. Dense. A lovely plush nose with notes of tobacco leaf, plums and blackberries. This is focused and has excellent length. Good acidity carries it. It has punch and persistence and is nicely balanced. This is a wine which surely has an impressive future.
