Both varieties were co fermented for 14 days and then matured in French oak of which 10% was new for 18 months. A scintillating concoction of Davidson plum, boysenberry and ripe Christmas cherries. There are sweet stewed blackberries resting on vanilla speckled ice cream, a scattering of licorice bullets and brewed long black coffee. The wine maintains tight acidity and firm but integrated tannins. A sappy nature to the finish indicates beautifully ripe berries with concentration and a deft hand with oak. This is drinking well now and will cellar well for another 4-8 years further. A swift decant and served beside juicy slabs of brisket would go down a treat.
