Castle Rock Porongurup Riesling 2020

Castle Rock’s Porongurup Riesling is a benchmark for the region. From the look of this wine 2020 is going to be a good vintage, if a little earlier drinking than usual. Often the Castle Rock Rieslings can take a little while to come around but this is already drinking beautifully and showcasing the rare purity seen in Riesling from Porongurup.

It is very pale in colour with pristine and focussed fruits; lime pith and white pear are lifted by a touch of rock and spice with youthful vitality bursting through. In the mouth the wine is composed – its citrus fruits beautifully matched by a core of lip-smacking but well integrated acidity. The balance is a killer here as is the tight fruit and long zesty finish. Super value and a perfect match to Thai stir-fried pippies.
