Curly Flat Macedon Ranges Pinot Noir 2023

Share

The stats on this wine say a lot about the seriousness with which the maker takes its Pinot Noir: sourced off seven blocks of grapes planted between 1992 and 2000 to four different clones for a total of 13 separate parcels of fruit. Weighs in at a modest 12.5% alcohol volume which is par for Curly Flat pinots with aromas of red cherry, red plum, cranberry with lifted and lively aromatic spices. Arrives taut in the glass – it was a cool vintage – with a slight sour cherry savouriness that brings another layer of interest to a palate dusty, earthy and cherry focused with crunchy acidity on board. Finishes with slightly green, sinewy tannins and is just a little short in length.
