Curtis Ancestor McLaren Vale Shiraz 2021

Share

From 80-year-old vines and McLaren Vale, the grapes were gently destemmed and cold soaked for two weeks, before fermentation and then maturation for two years in a mix of French and American barrels. Under diam. An opaque maroon hue here, the wine gives us intense aromas of chocolate, dried herbs, axle grease (in a positive way), black fruits, miso, beef stock, black olives, coffee beans, undergrowth and soy. The oak integration is excellent but still evident with good complexity throughout. A medium length wine with concentrated flavours, this is ripe, rich and powerful McLaren Vale Shiraz for enjoying over the next ten to fifteen years.
