Quite an intensely punchy aromatic opening. Braised meat, plum sauce, dried oregano, dried cherry, tangy blood orange and a whisper of smoke. Savouriness is the name of the game aromatically. The palate is quite fulsome and sapid with a more fruit-led aesthetic. Red cherry, red plum, dried herbs, cranberry. Assertively chalky tannins constrict around the fruit, before a wash of acidity freshens and elongates the palate carrying the dried herb and red plum notes though. There’s a pluckish youth to this wine, and a nerviness which should settle nicely with time.
