El Toro Macho Reserva 2014

Change is as good as a holiday and this wine gives you a little taste of Spain for far less than the cost of an airline ticket. The El Toro Macho Reserva 2014 comes from Utiel-Requena, one of the dozens of Spanish wine regions that can turn out great value, dark and generous reds with somer serious Spanish flavour.

It is made largely from Tempranillo which was then aged for 12 months in oak and smells like a Spanish barbecue, with roasted meat and smoky flavours plus dark fruits and plenty of oak. There is nothing shy about it and it’s fairly rustic too with some drying tannins that make it a wine made for flame-grilled steak.
