These are the first Alto Piemonte wines released by Barbaresco producer, Paitin. 100% Erbaluce from old vines in the glacial soils of Sizzano. Just ripe yellow apple, fennel, lemon rind, lemon leaf and saline minerality open the aromas, followed by green olive in brine. The palate leads with bright and racy fruit in the form of lemon juice and yellow apple with a saline crunch in tow. There’s a mineral feel here, too, adding coolness and shape before some pithy phenolics and lemon rind acid frame a finish of freshness and poise. It’s high toned and taut, with nice bitter edges around racy fruit and plenty of saline twang.
