This is a consistent trophy-winning wine that has performed exceptionally since the first release in 1984. It comes from a single block planted in 1894. This is one of the more elegant and finely balanced command Shiraz wines I’ve tasted, reflecting a cooler vintage. It opens with a burst of red fruits on the nose and subtle spicy nuances. Those red berry characters flow through the palate, joined by sweet and savoury spice and darker plummy tones. It spent 23 months in new French and American oak puncheons, yet the oak is admirably absorbed by the intensity of the old-vine fruit. A refined, stylish expression of this great wine.
