Eldridge Chardonnay 2024

The site in Redhill sits at 225m in elevation. Steve Flamsteed and Grace Jiranek matured the wine in a mix of puncheons and barriques for 10 months 25% was new with full malolactic fermentation taking place. White pear, nashi and pomelo citrus segments. A peach pit nuttiness with white cherries too. There is an electric crackle to the acidity with a powdery talc like texture that spreads across the palate length ways. This has only begun to hit its straps with its snappy yet fleshy palate built for the long years to come. Equally drinking well now with labne, fava beans and fresh garden herbs. A wine that has the drive and sparkle now and will age slowly over the next 8-10 years. This is the kind of wine you’d find it hard not to drink immediately but it will reward.
