Displays the kind of unassuming rustic honesty that takes you to the South of France with an attractive dusty earthiness, but there is more, a lot more. Pale salmon pink hues. There is no word on grape variety but there is no need. Aromatics draw you in – apple blossom, wild strawberry, summer berries, a splash of rose petal florals, blood orange rind and hints of pepper with earth. It’s a lovely introduction. The palate shows a sense of class and style in its textural qualities, lively acidity and lightly complex earthy flavours that run deep through cherry, strawberry, raspberry, background sweet herbals and floral/confection notes. Rises above your average Rosé with a personality and style that says it can match a range of foods and still be a strong stand-alone drink in summer or winter. And that lasting spicy note to close is a winner.

Wine critic at Winepilot

Jeni Port is one of Australia’s top wine communicators. Based in Melbourne, Jeni created the first wine column in the (then) Sun News-Pictorial before moving over to The Age and becoming that paper’s longest-serving wine writer. Over the years she has written for most Australian wine magazines and these days calls WinePilot home. She is also a Tasting Panel member on the Halliday Wine Companion. She was named Wine Communicator of the Year and Legend of the Melbourne Food and Wine Festival in 2014 and in 2018 Legend of the Vine. She is a founding board member of Australian Women In Wine and is the co-deputy chair of Australia’s Wine List of the Year Awards and China’s Wine List of the Year Awards.
