Fuddling Cup Cabernet Sauvignon 2017

There are heavier and bigger Margaret River Cabs than this example, but put that down to a slightly more elegant vintage. A great deal to like here. As before, from the famed Wilyabrup sub-region and twelve months in French oak. Deep garnet hue, this is quite a classical style of Cabernet, simply lacking the weight that local examples might give in bigger and warmer vintages. If elegance is your thing, rather than plush fruit bombs, you’ll enjoy this. Tobacco leaves, blackberries, a hint of cedar, aniseed and warm earth. There is good length here with woodsmoke notes and delicatessen meats appearing along the journey. Definitely showing some maturity, as one would expect. A wine of medium length and fine tannins, it lingers with appeal. Now and the next five years.
