Heathcote Shiraz is a pretty good bet if you want something ripe and tasty but without going over the top. I found the GKLR Shiraz to have great balance and concentration, with a nice blend of primary and tertiary aromas and flavours: blackcurrant, black cherry, mulberry, cocoa and leather. The tannins are drying and integrated, with a richness on the palate that isn’t too overpowering. This is the kind of wine that you can leave for years and be confident that it’s got even better.
