Gralyn Estate Reserve Chardonnay 2017

Share

This a slightly old-fashioned style of chardonnay where the oak leads the fruit, although that fruit is exceptional. Pale golden in colour, it is full of chalky grapefruit aromas that are bright and fresh which are slightly jarring with toasty oak. It’s then linear and acid driven on the palate, with concentrated fruit of great purity driving through to a long firm finish thanks to oak tannins. Oak lovers can enjoy this wine now but I think it will be better when the oak has come back a couple of notches.
