Grant Burge Miamba Shiraz 2023

Blackberry and black plum sit at the core of the aromas with black pepper, coal and mocha notes dancing around the edges. Some air unlocks black olive, rosemary and seared meat adding savoury complexity. The palate holds cool, restrained dark fruit in a similar vein (a plus given restraint isn’t a common characteristic in this price point). It very much mirrors the nose with blackberry and black plum the centrepiece, and black pepper, coal and mocha the seasoning. There’s good tannin structure here – grainy, stacked and mocha-laced – providing a frame on which the dark fruits and coal can carry to medium length. At $27, there’s good bang for your buck here.
