Gundog Estate Canberra Riesling 2021

Share

The Clare Valley and Eden Valley are acknowledged riesling masters. Let’s add a new name to that list: Canberra.

Cool climates bring out a delicacy in the grape. It’s here in spades, a light touch evident, pristine and pure through and through. And a gentleness, too.

Starts out a little reserved, teasing out apple and citrus with light floral aromas. Steely in structure with a lemony acidity that sits the tastebuds bolt upright. So young but it’s coming together nicely, a touch of musk, orange peel bringing floral shades to the citrus intensity on the palate. Reminds me of that classic saying, “iron fist in a velvet glove.” There’s a depth here just starting to be revealed.
