There’s something about ripe, sweet-hearted Barossa Shiraz. It’s not only comforting and luscious, but when it’s also well-structured and well-defined, it sings. The secret ingredient here is old vine Shiraz with old vines contributing excellent concentration of fruit and balance. It’s bold and forthright. Deep-seated dark fruits with plenty of earthiness, high spice notes, chocolate, fruitcake and toasty oak. The palate is mapped out in firm, ripe tannins, carrying plenty of flavour to the point of unctuousness. Syrupy to close but, boy, the finish does last a long, long time.
